Jorge Zalszupin L'Atelier - Itamaraty Chair, solid rosewood and leather
Dimensions: W49 x D49 x H81 cm
The iconic Itamaraty Dining Chairs were designed by Jorge Zalszupin (1922-2020) in 1959 and produced by his company, L'atelier, until the mid-1960s.
The pieces are made of solid Jacaranda wood with leather seats and backs. The rectangular design features beautiful touches, such as the upholstered sides of the seats and the slightly reclined backs. The work of Jorge Zalszupin (1922-2020) was one of the most versatile of the late 1950s and early 1960s. His designs exemplify a transition from artisanal to mass-produced industrial methods. L'atelier Móveis was founded in 1959, with its first collection focused on residential furniture. But soon, Zalszupin understood the potential of office furniture for large-scale production and used machinery and technology to realize his bold ideas.
Chairs bearing the L'Atelier label from 1963 to 1965.
