Jorge Zalszupin L'Atelier - Table 511 for dining room in rosewood, table with curved edges, ebonized iron structure with central wooden brace. Brazil, design 1959.
This piece is unique because it is documented in the first gallery opened by L'atelier in the Conjunto Nacional, in São Paulo. It also stands out for being present in the company's first catalog, dated 1959. The table features a beautiful rosewood veneer top and a black-painted iron base. Its simple design is very well constructed, highlighting the details: molded corners, which are charming in themselves, have cutouts where the iron hardware can be seen. The works from L'Atelier's first phase focus on the execution and details of handcrafted joinery with noble materials such as leather, marble, and rosewood. Even so, they already introduced some techniques and materials considered innovative.
Purchased together with 6 Itamaraty chairs.
