Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner: coffee table in solid rosewood, glass and mirror.
A rare find in our collection, a highly regarded piece by the duo Martin Eisler & Carlo Hauner, for Forma. Modern design from the 1950s.
- The coffee table is made entirely of solid rosewood, with tapered legs. A niche in the middle of the piece has a bronze mirror base (original from the period), and the entire top is made of glass in 3 parts (2 frosted and 1 translucent), as shown in the photograph of the piece in Casa & Jardim magazine issue 12 (pages 32 to 34). On the sides are two drawers with solid rosewood fronts and "carved" handles.
- Underneath one of the drawers is an original "Forma" stamp.
- Dimensions: W113 x D45 x H45 cm.
- Provenance: This piece was acquired from a family of German origin in Santa Catarina. It is made entirely of solid rosewood, with its original markings. The glass had been replaced with a frosted glass panel featuring butterfly designs. We restored the glass to its original shape, with a transparent central section and frosted glass over the drawers.
